Can music create a mood? Students will learn the history of some “spooky music” and we will discuss how music has the power to make us feel anxious, scared, startled and terrified. This class will listen and watch performances of many different pieces of music which (time permitting) may include: JS Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor Frédéric Chopin - Funeral March Hector Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique Modest Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain Edvard Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre Charles Gounod - Funeral March of a Marionette Bernard Herrmann- Themes from Psycho and Cape Fear John Carpenter - Theme from Halloween Andrew Lloyd Webber - Phantom of the Opera John Williams - Themes from Jaws and Harry Potter Danny Elfman - Theme from Beetlejuice and This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein - Theme from Stranger Things Due to the scary music we will be exploring this class is not recommended for children who get scared easily by spooky sounds or music.

We will be exploring some scary sounding music and how this music affects our mood and emotions. This class is not recommenced for children who are scared easily by spooky music and sounds.
