US Grade 1 - 4
It's that time of year again, and I have some delicious ideas brewing in my cauldron that will keep kids moving, teach them new music, and help them discover some spooky Halloween classic(al) music. We will have a Halloween sing-along and move-along that will get their bones rattling. Working together, learners will use body percussion-- clapping, patting, swishing, and more-- to keep the beat and choreograph our own accompaniment that uses our own body as instruments. Throughout the class, we'll listen to some Halloween classics such as In the Hall of the Mountain King and Danse Macabre, with musical activities woven in. We'll definitely dance some ghosts away and may even meet some spooky skeletons. Not-too-scary costumes are welcome!
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice concepts including steady beat, comparing and contrasting musical styles, and musical expression.
