Class Experience

This class is for students with gymnastics experience. In order to take this class, students must be able to comfortably kick up to a vertical handstand, and also back bend to a bridge from standing. Learners who cannot do these two skills will be very frustrated with the pace and level of this class.

In this class, students will work on their back bend kickovers and back walkovers and progressions toward them. We will start with a short warm-up and stretch, followed by a series of drills and basic skills, leaving the last 10-15 minutes of practice for students to practice their kickovers and walkovers with coaching from me. I will coach them on their technique and direct them to repeat drills and shaping exercises to improve their technique.
Learning Goals
Students will learn drills and body shaping exercises to help them improve their kickovers and back walkovers.

Parental Guidance
As with any sport or physical activity, gymnastics carries a risk of injury. Minimize this risk with a clear open space, appropriate clothing and equipment, and adult supervision. Students will NOT simply practice their walkovers over and over for half an hour, as that would lead to muscle soreness and put your child at risk of injury.
