Have you wanted to practice real research with a purpose? Have you been interested in doing research to write a paper, create a museum exhibit, develop a website, write and film a documentary, or write a performance? Did you know that there is a National History Day (NHD) Project competition held each year in Washington, DC that is based on student research? Did you know that the NHD competition is open to learners from middle to high school age? Did you know that learners from Home schools, Public schools, and International schools are welcome to compete each year? Did you know that you can compete as an individual or as a group? If you have ever wondered about what is involved in completing an entry for this competition, but did not know who to ask, or where to start---here is your class! The innovative instruction from NHD is linked to academic success and skills development across all subjects, including reading, science, and math, as well as social studies. NHD students outperform their non-NHD peers on state standardized tests across subjects. For example, NHD students scored more than twice as well on Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).
