       *Class Experience
*Guitar Workshop is a course for Intermediate guitarists, dedicated to providing a musically enriching
experience for students who wish to keep music in their lives. Students will learn to play guitar by ear
and from music notation while studying various musical styles.
This is a brief overview of some materials that will be covered:

**Guitar TAB or Tablature is a simple way of writing out music for guitar (and other similar instruments). Think of it as a ‘map’ of the guitar neck. It shows what frets to play on which strings. Tablature is unique to guitar-based instruments, so don’t be surprised if you give a TAB to a violinist, and they give you a strange look because they can’t read it. The formal way of writing music for guitar is when a standard notation staff is connected to a TAB staff. The informal way is to show the Guitar TAB staff only in text format. The informal way is how you will find most TAB on the internet.
Learning Goals
Teaching Point / Goals-
I will give a structured paced lesson that helps students understand each step of the way what is expected and how to perform each task. I will teach students proper hand positions and how to look at the guitar fretboard as their roadmap to learn to see melodies and chords, also to be able to not get lost on the fretboard.

*Teaching Style-
**I Do - We Do - You Do
This form of study is time-tested over my 20yrs of teaching in the public school system.
*Students get clear instruction by watching the teacher ( I Do)
*Students then get to participate with the teacher ( We Do)
*Students then get to complete the exercises on their own (You Do)

The guitar is an instrument that is hands-on. For this reason, it is as much visual as it is auditory. Students need to internalize and practice what is taught. At the end of class, students will play together with the teacher in a fun and musical way.
*Since this is a beginner course there is no required experience.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Greg Clarke I'm a guitarist, songwriter, performer, composer, and teacher based out of Woodbridge, New Jersey.

I began listening to music at an early age. I would go through my older brother and sister's record collection where I developed my love for all things music. I got my first guitar at age 13 and began teaching myself how to play. I learned how to play the music that I heard from the records. I began to fall in love with making and listening to music.

I have a passion for working with new musicians who feel that very same spark of inspiration.

My teaching style uses contemporary music to teach the basics and fundamentals of technique and music theory. My main objective is to turn that initial spark into a fire that can last a lifetime. I feel that we all have music inside of us. It is the common language that we speak.
