Guitar or Piano One-on-One Fun Music Lesson
Class experience
I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes. This is a single, one time guitar lesson, or piano lesson, so that you can try it out, or for continuing students that want an extra lesson during the week. No prior music experience is required. I will work with you, at your current level. If you want to continue lessons after this class, I have longer sessions available. You can let me know what your favorite music is and what your favorite songs are. I will work...
This lesson will be individualized just for you. Student will learn to play one or two songs. They will learn any symbols, tablature, or notations that are necessary to understand the song sheets. The student will get a feel for playing with a steady beat. They will have more self confidence about playing and being involved in music. They will experience different musical styles. The student will have a better idea about what playing an instrument and taking lessons is like. They will play on their own, and also with accompaniment from the teacher. The student will experience improvising and how it works. They will feel good about themselves and their ability to play music.
I have been an Outschool teacher since May of 2020. I love teaching on Outschool and sharing my love of music and art with the students. I have 20+ years experience, as a music teacher. I have taught for a over a year on outschool as a piano and guitar teacher. My teaching experience includes piano, electric keyboard, guitar, and general music classes, in both the classroom and private settings. My brick and mortar school teaching includes being head of the music department at a private high school in Maryland. I taught private piano and guitar lessons at a guitar shop, for 5 years, in addition to my own private students in my studio. My bachelor's degree is in liberal arts with a concentration in music and I have graduate studies in music education, from Towson University.

Students learn their instrument faster when they practice at least 15-30 minutes, at least three times per week. It is best to have the first practice session as close to the lesson that they just had, so that they remember what we went over during the lesson. I will post all of the practice materials in the classroom.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Please message me and let me know which instrument your child will have for this class. It will be one instrument for the entire three weeks. I will occasionally use YouTube to share a song during class, for the student to play along with. Sometimes I will send a youtube song link to the classroom for the student to practice along with the song. For guitar, I recommend GuitarTuna online tuner or free phone app. I will send the link to the parent. For piano, I ask that you label the keys. I will post instructions in the classroom for you, along with diagrams.
