This is a small group private tutoring class! It's the same benefits of private tutoring; but, will allow learners to interact with 1-2 other students near the same skill level. In this ongoing class, learners will focus on guided reading and writing with blend and digraph words. Class will start with a simple introduction and a quick show and tell! How is the instruction of the class structured? 1.We will begin the instruction of class with a review of letter sounds by singing a song...
Each week students will accurately decode a different word family group and recognize the words in a pattern.
The teacher holds a Masters Degree in Special Education and is a published children's book author!
Learners will need a pencil and paper or a dry erase board and marker. They will use this to practice writing new words in the word families. Students will receive a copy of a printable emerging reader passage and/or a word family worksheet to practice at home after class to build upon the lesson.
The teacher will informally assess the students throughout the class by checking for understanding and asking questions to look for mastery of concepts.
20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
