US Grade 5 - 7
The students should read each book before coming to class. The students may also listen to an adult or older child read the book before class. Having the opportunity to discuss books with others encourages learners to continue reading and enhances their enjoyment of reading. Book clubs are a great way to increase your learner's amount of reading. In this club, the students will discuss a new Guardians of Gahoole book written by Kathryn Lasky each week. We will discuss the book, talk about the vocabulary, and answer trivia questions if there is time. The students are asked to bring one trivia question about the book to ask the other students. The students can also ask questions about vocabulary words. Please post the vocabulary words in class comments the day before our club meets. In this club, we will discuss the plot of the story, the characters, the problem, fantasy, and the resolution of the book. I will prepare some discussion questions for each class. I will also prepare trivia questions for the students. We will play a trivia game at the end of each class. Please remember your trivia question. If you have questions about a vocabulary word, please ask them on the classroom page or send a message through chat. Week of: December 17: The Capture December 24: The Journey December 31: The Rescue January 7: The Seige January 14: The Shattering More books will be added as the class continues.
