Class Experience

This is an interactive chat/discussion for Gryffindors who want to meet and hang out with other Gryffindors! Students will be encouraged to talk about their favorite Gryffindor characters, what makes a good Gryffindor, why they love being a Gryffindor, and why Gryffindor is the best Hogwart's house (shh, don't tell the other houses!).

Possible character to talk about could include Harry Potter, Hermione, Professor McGonagall, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Fred and George Weasley, Nearly Headless Nick, and, of course, Godric Gryffindor himself. Students are encouraged to attend each week to chat with their friends about their favorite subject: being a Gryffindor!
Learning Goals
Gryffindors emphasize the traits of courage, daring, nerve, and chivalry. Students will be encouraged to discuss these attributes and how they might show up in their personal lives.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Non-Gryffindor students may visit this classroom, but please keep comments positive and appropriate. This is a classroom to celebrate all things Gryffindor! Also, since students may be at different levels in their reading or movie watching, I will attempt to keep spoilers to a minimum during the students' discussion (but sometimes these details slip out!)
Supply List
No materials are needed or provided. Students should have some knowledge of the Harry Potter universe and the Hogwarts houses.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from Spalding University
I have an MFA in Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults. During grad school, my 30 page critical essay cited numerous quotes from the Harry Potter series. I felt so fortunate to get to read Harry Potter as part of my education! I want to share that love and passion for Harry Potter to all readers. It is such an immersive world and so much fun to escape to. In my other Harry Potter classes, I've noticed students really identifying with their school houses. I thought this would be a fun way to connect like-minded students and celebrate the ideas and goals they have in common.
