Class Experience

Join me as we learn the basics of hand drumming.  
After class students will be able to:
-Hold the hand drum properly
-Use proper hand technique
-Count a measures of music
-Find the beat in a song

Any hand drum or percussion instrument will work and there is NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY to join this fun and exciting percussion class. 

At the beginning of class, we will all get a chance to introduce ourselves before the lesson begins. At the end of class, I will provide a chance for students to ask questions and share what they have learned with the class. 

I keep lessons fun and exciting.

Learning Goals

We will learn how to hold their drum, proper hand technique, and play basic rhythms.

Supply List

Learners will need a percussion instrument of their choice.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

My name is Jesse Shultzaberger and I am a professional drummer, music instructor and author of drum method book "Foundations of Drumming". I have taught all ages for over twenty year and teach all styles of drums from drum set to hand drumming, marching percussion and mallets, as well as beginner trumpet. My goal is for students to discover the joy of music. I grew up in a musical family and come from a long lineage of excellent teachers. I believe a love of music can enrich anyone’s life and anyone can learn to be musical. 

In addition to teaching music I am also a performer and recording artist. I have played thousands of concerts and have recorded on over 30 albums. Let me help you unleash your inner musicality.
