Students will be asked to go shopping to apply the lesson for the week. Students will engage in weekly hands-on and interactive live instructional classes followed up by optional videos and independent practice.
Pencils with erasers are required. Handouts will be provided after enrollment. It is suggested that parents provide a clipboard when shopping at the grocery store. OPTIONAL If students would like to "write" on the board and they are not utilizing an iPad or Tablet we suggest you purchase an external pen and tablet devices, also known as drawing tablets or graphics tablets, from places like Amazon for as little as $25. The ability to write on the whiteboard using a pen device rather than a mouse makes it easier for students to be engaged and enjoy the class more.

For parents who desire a letter grade, optional assessments will be given throughout to help parents determine learner progress. All learners will receive feedback on the culminating project in which students combine all that they learn to create a budget for a week’s work of groceries, create a menu plan for that week, create a shopping list and execute the shopping list while staying under budget.

This class utilizes a variety of resources to keep students engaged. We will be using Kahoot to practice our skills. We will be using Google Forms for optional assessments. We may also utilize Google Docs and Google Jamboard in class to share information. Parents should accompany their learner at the grocery store for the hands-on assignments.
