This ongoing class is especially good for those of you who loved Greek of the Week Season One, and want to learn a new set of stories. In each of our weekly classes, we can explore a new story or figure from Ancient Greece. We will dive deep into the myths and the ancient history in search of great stories; some you might know, like Hercules, but others you may not have heard of. This class is designed to be fun and conversational, but still rich and challenging - we are going to learn so so much, and have a lot of fun whilst doing it. Ancient Greece has so many stories, and there are so many ways we can explore them - as storytellers, poets, artists, sculptors, archaeologists, historians and just as funny people noticing Greek things around us in our daily lives. Our Outschool Olympus is the place for Greekery and Geekery. You are warmly invited. 1 ARES LOVES A BIT A CHAOS 2 DIONYSUS AND HIS RETINUE 3 PANDORA AND A BIT OF HOPE 4 ODD TIMES IN CORINTH 5 DON'T MESS WITH THE AMAZONS 6 SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 7 LETO VERSUS NIOBE 8 PERICLES, ASPASIA AND POWER 9 JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS 10 STATUES, PYGMALION AND GALATEA 11 ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE 12 PHILOCTETES, THE STINKY FOOT GUY 13 SAPPHO AND OTHER POETS 14 WELCOME TO THE UNDERWORLD 15 THE HORRIBLE BLOODLINE OF TANTALUS 16 THE ANIMALS OF MYTH See the dates for your session here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S5IlQMKDRNVtSNLqkzfqG6zVj63rWFPw8zI1cyyD5iw/edit?usp=sharing
Learning Goals
You are going to learn a whole lot of stories about Ancient Greece: this includes myths, legends, stories of heroes and war, and also the stories of the gods and goddesses.
You will get lots of chances to share your own stories and facts, and to learn with each other in the class too.
We will focus on how to be an engaging storyteller and how to use Ancient Greek tales to help our thinking. This is a class to build your confidence and friendships, just as much as your speaking and Greek knowledge.
We will have a lot of fun in class with all these weird stories.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
The Ancient Greek stories are often violent. I am an experienced primary teacher, and tell them in a way that is appropriate, at a level similar to that found in children's literature. I make it quite cartoonish where I can, and avoid stories that are too mature in their content.
Where children's curiosity leads them to ask questions that other children may find uncomfortable, I am able confident that I can respond sensitively.
Language of Instruction
English
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am currently studying Greek Mythology at the University of Oxford, with the Oxford School of Continuing Education
