Greek Mythology Escape Room {Private Birthday Party}

Oh no! Students traveled through time to ancient Greece and got stuck there. They'll have to find four investigation sites, where they must crack a code to complete the return passcode phrase. Wish them luck.

Class Experience

This is the birthday party version of my existing Greek Mythology Escape Room.

The party will begin with 15 minutes of social time for party-goers to talk with each other and wish a happy birthday to the guest of honor. (optional)

Class will then begin with an introduction explaining the scenario: The students traveled back in time to ancient Greece. Unfortunately, the return passcode phrase has been lost. Luckily, clues for the passcode phrase were hidden there on a previous trip. Students will be visiting four investigation sites to collect the clues to unlock the code.

Each investigation site requires students to read a one-page myth (child-friendly version). As directed, they will decode a message at each site. The decoding process involves proving story comprehension. Each student will do their own work, at their own pace. However, we will all remain together in the main classroom Zoom meeting, so learners can talk about their discoveries with others if they would like to do so. Did you look behind that vase? Can we move those books in the blue room?

A link will be provided to access the escape room individually after the teacher-led introduction. Students will have 45 minutes to decode the clues. If all students escape in fewer than 45 minutes, we'll use any remaining time to reflect on some of the lessons taught in the myths.

These one-page myths are included:
→ Arachne & Athena
→ The 12 Labors of Heracles
→ Pandora's Box
→ Theseus & The Minotaur

(No previous Greek Mythology knowledge is required.)

Technology Note: It is probably best to use a laptop or desktop computer for this class. This escape involves using a drag & drop feature and sometimes tablets don't work well when trying to drag & drop.

Please, contact me with any questions.

    I hold a master's degree in Instructional Design (MSID).I am a certified teacher with 11 years of experience teaching in a traditional classroom setting. I have been creating and selling my educational resources online since 2012. I took my first Greek Mythology elective class when I was in high school and I was hooked! Mythology is one of my favorite subjects to teach. When I traveled to Greece, I made sure to visit many temples dedicated to the mythological gods that I had been fascinated with since my teen years.
