What's included

Homework
1 hour per week. Each week, students will be given 3-5 options for homework. These could be watching a short video, reading about another woman in aviation, or constructing their own airplanes.

In this 4 week class, we will learn about the childhood, education, inspiration, and influences of one the most daring woman of the twentieth century. We will take a look at Amelia Earhart's career and learn what inspired her to attempt to fly around the world. 

In this class, we will be learning about the amazing life and career of Amelia Earhart. We will discuss her inspiration, her achievements, and how the world reacted to her. 

Topics that we will be covering:

Week 1 - A look at her childhood and family; Life during WWI
Week 2 - Getting her pilots license; breaking national records
Week 3- Her final flight and disappearance; Different theories as to what happened to her and who is still looking for her today
Week 4 - The impact of her life; The Ninety-Nines; Women in aviation after Amelia's disappearance

Each week, by Wednesday evening (9pm PST) -

-I will email each student a link that weeks lecture and assignments. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account that is embedded into the Outschool classroom page.  
-  Assignments will consist of discussion and essay questions, short research topics, Youtube videos, and worksheets. These will be posted on the classroom page. 
- In my flex classes, each family can determine the level of participation in the course. 
- Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom.  
-I will check in with each student several times during the week to check on progress of the homework, address any questions, or to engage in a discussion about the topic covered. Each student is encouraged to message (through the Outschool classroom) me anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class.  
- Each week, there may be additional articles, videos, or pictures that will be posted to the classroom page to engage students in open conversations about that weeks topic.

Parental Guidance
We will be discussing her final flight and how even today people still don't know what happened to her. This class will utilize Youtube videos for sharing of lecture videos, as well as supplemental lessons. All Youtube videos are embedded into the Outschool platform. This class may also utilize Kahoot. Learners will be given a direct link and game pin to play.
