How are they different and how are they the same as the other directors we will be looking at? Then we will watch a clip from a movie they directed. Then have discussion time about their craft, and the movie itself. I am patient and upbeat in my teaching. The learners will interact with me through question and answers. There is no required knowledge, but they will be asked to watch a movie by that class' director before class if possible. Because this class is ongoing, we may spend more than 1 class on Steven Spielberg, depending on student interest.
Learning Goals
Students will gain an appreciation for the work of Ron Howard, Garry Marshall and Steven Spielberg. They should gain a basic knowledge of each director's style, what a director does, and how these directors got their start.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
The movies we are watching and discussing are in the PG or PG 13 range, but parents are encouraged to watch the movies themselves to make sure they are comfortable with their learner watching scenes from or commenting about PG 13 movies by these directors. There may be some incidental language even in PG movies, that parents may not wish for their student to hear. We will NOT be discussing or watching Rated R films by these directors. Please contact me if you have any questions concerning what we will be viewing.

The above mentioned movies will be referenced, as well as other work by the directors.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach Reading, Grammar, History and have: taught full-time, and worked as a substitute teaching many different subjects in classes from Kinder to 12th grade. My majors in college ranged from Child Development, to Theater Arts, to English, and an additional History minor. In addition to teaching I am a published author. My philosophy of teaching is that we are all life-long learners and we never stop learning. To that end, every lesson should fun and enjoyable, while teaching, and/or learning, something new. The students should have fun while they learn, as that's the way we learn the most.
