In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to a story about Farmer Bob. After bringing in his corn, potatoes, beans, and tomatoes, Farmer Bob decides to settle down for a good night's rest. While he snoozes away, the river rises high enough to set his bed afloat down the river. This sends the animals into a panic--a drove of pigs outlines a plan, a colony of beavers races to chew down trees, a school of fish tries to create a dam, and so forth. Will Farmer Bob be rescued by a nest of snakes and a herd of horses? After the story, we will play an interactive noun game, where the students get to control the screen using a computer mouse, touch pad, or Ipad. Then we will make our craft. The students will use the attached printables to make plural and singular pockets. Then they will cut out words to add to the correct pockets. Students can even make their own words to keep adding to their pockets after class! This class is great for children who are just learning about singular and plural nouns, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about singular and plural nouns. Let's start our noun learning!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of singular and plural nouns. They will listen to a story and share singular and plural nouns from the story. Students will use real life experience to find singular and plural nouns and write them on a craft.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
