Week of February 2 - 8: Sentence structure: Understanding the structure of a sentence (subject, verb, object) and how to form complete sentences. Week of February 9 - 15: Punctuation: Proper use of punctuation marks such as periods, question marks, and exclamation points. Week of February 16 - 22: Capitalization: Knowing when and how to capitalize proper nouns, the first word of a sentence, and the pronoun "I." Week of February 23 - March 1: Proper nouns. Week of March 2 - 8: Tenses: Understanding the different verb tenses (past, present, future) and using them correctly. Week of March 9 - 15: Subject-verb agreement: Ensuring that the subject and verb in a sentence agree in number and person. Week of March 16 - 22: Commas. Week of March 23 - 29: Semicolons and colons. Week of March 30 - April 5: Quotation marks. Week of April 6 - 12: Contractions: Understanding and using contractions appropriately (e.g., can't, don't, it's).
