If your learner needs extra practice with grammar and writing to improve their skills and apply them consistently and confidently, this class is for you! This class has been designed as a companion to my Grammar: Exploring Language Basics series. It provides students with dedicated time for extra practice to reinforce key grammar concepts we are learning each week in Grammar: Exploring Language Basics. During class learners will get focused practice with a grammar concept such as sentence structure, punctuation, parts of speech, and irregular past tense verbs. The extra practice activities and writing prompts are designed strengthen learners understanding and boost their writing confidence. Each class will include a review of the grammar topic of focus for the week, dedicated writing time, and time for sharing and teacher feedback. ***Class Schedule*** Week of January 5th: Writing to describe using verbs with different shades of meaning (Part 2) Week of January 12th: Writing with irregular plural nouns (part 1) Week of January 19th: Writing with irregular plural nouns (part 2) Week of January 26th: Paragraph writing review and practice
Learners will develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing.
Learners will need to bring paper and a pen/pencil to each class meeting.
I have an Associates of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. I am certified to teach Social Studies in grades 6-12. Additionally, I have my TESOL certification.
I have been a 12th grade teacher, a 10th grade teacher, and most recently a Lead Teacher in a pre-school where I exclusively worked with 3, 4, and 5 year olds. I taught at the pre-school for three years with a focus on fostering the development of early literacy and math skills. I've been a teacher on Outschool since the Summer of 2020. During that time I've continuously taught my Sight Word Swing Level 1 and 2 classes, my Writer's Workshop class, and done private tutoring.
