Beginner Level
In this class, students will learn the parts of speech and the parts of the sentence through diagramming and games. Understanding the parts of speech and parts of the sentence will help students understand sentence structure and will prepare them to learn grammar and usage rules. Each week in class, students will learn the parts of speech and the parts of the sentence through diagramming, and they will play a game to solidify what they learn. For homework, students will watch a review video, complete an exercise, and complete a quiz. Quizzes will be graded by the teacher, and feedback will be given. Students will be required to correct each quiz if mastery isn't demonstrated on the quiz.
Learning Goals
Identify the eight parts of speech: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, interjection.Identify the subject, predicate, direct object, indirect object, object of the preposition, predicate nominative, and predicate adjective.

Action Verbs, Nouns, and Pronouns
Students will learn to identify action verbs, nouns, and pronouns and will learn to diagram the simple subject and simple predicate.

Adjectives and Adverbs
Students will learn to identify and diagram adjectives and adverbs.

Lesson 3:
Helping Verbs, Direct Object, and Indirect Object
Students will learn the 23 helping verbs and will learn to to diagram helping verbs, direct objects, and indirect objects.

Lesson 4:
Linking Verbs, Predicate Adjectives, and Predicate Nominatives
Students will learn to identify and diagram linking verbs, predicate adjectives, and predicate nominatives.
