US Grade 3 - 5
Welcome to our 4th and 5th Grade Spelling and Grammar class! This class is designed to make learning spelling and grammar fun, interactive, and practical. Each class will help your child develop and improve their writing, reading, and communication abilities. We learn new skills and practice with online games. Here’s what you can expect from the structure and style of our class: Each class will begin with introduction and review of the importance of spelling and grammar. Students will be given the opportunity to correct errors in a paragraph. We will have a short lesson on a spelling rule. Students will review 3 -5 words to analyze spelling patterns for regular, irregular, and rule words. I will then review grammar lesson using slides and activities. Practice of the skill will take place with an engaging activity to capture students' interest. At times students will practice by writing sentences to reinforce the lesson. We play a short kahoot game or similar that helps students practice the grammar or spelling skill of the day. Finally, students will participate in an interactive, hands-on activity such as worksheets, sentence writing, matching exercises, or open-ended questions to apply what they've learned in a creative way. This is sometimes a take home task. This is an ongoing class. This means students may come to any class without needing to have attended previous sessions. The lessons do not build on one another, so students are welcome to come and participate whenever they choose! Students may join anytime and stay as long as you like! Hello, I am Ms Velvet.
ABOUT ME: As a teacher I believe that we should provide students with the skills and opportunity to learn and grow. I think that students are more apt to care what you know, when they know that you care and I hope that I live that philosophy out in my classroom. I am excited about teaching and passionate to guide students learning.
Personally, I absolutely love reading. There is a book by Dr Suess that really does so much more than entertain. It is called " Oh, the Places You Will Go." This book truly sets people of all ages up for success! While there are many quotes I could pull from this fabulous writing, my favorite is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” - This quote emphasizes the idea of self-direction and the ability to choose your own path. I hope my guidance leads others to develop the confidence to choose the right path for them.
WHAT MAKES ME QUALIFIED: I am an experienced teacher in the classroom setting. I have experience online as well. I started teaching virtually with my local school district about 4 years ago, in the Southern USA. Now, I'm teaching virtually on outschool, to students all over the world.
I currently teach middle school classes as well as upper elementary classes. My classes are centered on English Language Arts and ESL. I teach ELA Homeschool, Writing, Grammar, Spelling, Reading, Speaking, Vocabulary, Poetry, Literature, English as a Second Language, and more.
I have multiple degrees in Education. I am completing my certification as a registered IEW Writing Instructor. I am also certified in TOSEL and TEFL as an ESL Instructor. As you can probably see, Im a firm believer in continued education practices.

MESSAGE ME: For questions or comments regarding my class offers, curriculum, and more, please message me. I am here to ensure that your child has a great experience on outschool.
REVIEW MY CLASS: Being a newer teacher on outschool, I do not yet have many reviews. You can change that for me. Take a class with me and let me know what you think. Do you like my style, how I am with the students, what I teach? Are there things that you would like to see in our virtual classroom? Let's work together to grow our learners knowledge and build up each other's lives.
