- My instructional time will focus on 8th grade standards. Some critical areas of focus are: 1) Develop understanding of irrational numbers. 2. Develop understanding of expressions and equations, including solving linear equations, linear inequalities, and systems of linear equations. 3. Develop understanding of the concept of a function and use functions to describe quantitative relationships, including modeling an association in bivariate data with a linear equation. I come to you with over 15 years of experience in STEM education. I am a certified educator in 6 different States. I hold a Bachelor's Degree of Science with distinguished honors. In addition, I hold a Masters Degree Science Education and Doctorate of Philosophy in Teaching Learning and Culture with a specialization in Science and Mathematics Education. You never stop learning! I became a teacher by choice. Teaching young minds has been one of the best things that has happened to me. I love to learn as much as I love to teach!

Assignments due for the week are posted on the class announcement at the beginning of each week. All assignments are submitted electronically. Students receive feedback within 24 hrs of each submission.## Assessment

Frequency: Available upon requestDetails: Summative assessments will be optional and available to students. The goal is to provide students with exposure to what a standardized assessment looks like without adding the anxiety that comes with testing. Student achievement will be measured formatively in the form of discussions, and assignments.## Grading

Frequency: Available upon requestDetails: Students who enroll in this course receive access to my Google Classroom where they receive grades for the work that submit for scoring.

You need three things for this class: a notebook, a scientific calculator, and a pencil. Dr. V. will provide you with access to readings, slide decks, vocabulary lists, and practice problems after each class.
