US Grade 3
We will be teaching Grade 3 Math. The class may have worksheets and activities. We may use games, slides, video, images, manipulatives to teach the material. We will be using the interactive whiteboard on Zoom so students are encouraged to provide their share their responses using a mouse, in the chat box or using a drawing tablet. Previous Grade 2 Math experience or knowledge would be recommended because the curriculum moves quite fast. Tentative Schedule: (Note: progression of lesson may vary depending on the needs and understanding of students) Week (Sept 4) Grade 3 Multiplication, Telling Time, Money covers: multiplication 6,11,9,7,8,12, reading the clock, half and quarter hours, till and past, how many minutes pass, elapsed time, calendar, money problems, solving money word problems Week (Sept 11) Place Value with Thousands covers: Four digit number and place value, which is greater, mental adding and subtracting, add four digit number with regrouping Week (Sept 18) Place Value with Thousands covers: Subtract four digit numbers with regrouping, estimating, word problems Week (Sept 25) Geometry covers: shapes, special quadrilaterals, perimeter, area, and perimeter, solids, word problems Week (Oct 2) Measuring covers: Measuring to the nearest fourth inch, centimeters and millimeters, line plots and more measuring, Feet, yards, Miles, pounds, ounces, grams, and kilograms, cups, pints, quarts, gallons Week (Oct 9) Measuring and division covers: measuring word problem, division making groups, divide evenly into groups Week (Oct 16) Division covers: division and word problems Week (Oct 23) Fractions, Fractions, Grade 3 Review Test covers: Comparing fractions, word problems, Fractions on a number line, mixed numbers, equivalent fractions Please note: The topics will not cycle back to the beginning and new topics will be introduced in upcoming weeks in this order.

Student to learn Grade 3 Math. To develop a strong math sense, accuracy in calculations and confidence in doing word problems.

We will be using screen share during our class. As well, student may need a Gmail account when we may use Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Sheets or Google Forms for notes or for informal assessments.

I have over 17 years of teaching experience in classrooms and in one to one tutoring settings. I believe in lifelong learning. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary with a Math and Science specialization. I also completed a Diploma in Early Years Education, Certificate in Kindergarten, Diploma in Special Education, and Certificate in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I have worked with student ages from Pre-K to Grade 12.
I believe every student can learn and each student may learn differently. My job as an educator is to teach students and provide them with new challenges that stimulate their own thinking and inspire them to enjoy learning.
