1 hour per week. Students will complete weekly assignments together as part of their math class within the power point slides from class. No need to print the homework sheets.Assessment
As an introduction to mathematics tutoring class I will assess the students' mathematical knowledge and reasoning skills with a quick informal assessment of skills. I will complete informal assessments throughout the lessons. First, during the students active engagement at the beginning of the lesson. Then, during the middle of the lesson during student application of new skills. Also at the end of the lesson, I will be assessing the students completed assignments and tasks.Grading
includedClass Experience
US Grade 3 - 4
This tutoring math class is presented to students ages 9-12 and has been developed using the common core state standards for mathematics. Each session is designed to develop students' confidence and mathematical thinking skills. In this class the students develop and build an understanding of mathematical Strategies for working with higher numbers. The students will be presented and interact with two weekly lessons that will review prior knowledge of mathematical skills and be introduced to new mathematical concepts. The overall structure of each lesson includes the following components: The lesson starts with a review of prior knowledge and a connection to the math skill. Next, the lesson introduces new math concept, and the students discuss and apply their newly learned skills. Finally, the students complete a lesson activity so I can monitor their understanding of the new concept and provide more instruction if needed to understand the new skills. The following meeting titles and topics will be presented through a power point presentation in our new bitmoji classroom where students will meet to conduct their lessons and complete their math assignments. The semester classes will include the following concepts: Sept./ Oct., Chapter 1, Understanding Addition and Subtraction within 1000 Nov./ Dec., Chapter 3, Understanding Multiplication Fall 2024 The classes will include the following concepts each week: September to December 2024, Chapter 1, Understanding Addition and Subtraction within 1000 Week of 9/30/24 Day 1, Introduction to Zoom & and getting to know you survey. Teacher expertise and credentials
New Jersey Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Master's Degree in Education from Georgian Court University
Throughout my tenure as an elementary and special education classroom teacher I have taught math to a wide range of levels. From kindergarten to 9th grade algebra and whole class/group instruction to small group intervention. I have taught different types of math programs from the traditional to investigations programs. I feel, each of these math programs have different strengths and weaknesses. I feel teaching a combination of new strategies and traditional techniques help students strengthen their mathematical reasoning and applications skills in mathematics.
