Class Experience

Join me for a step-by-step drawing class of the Pokemon Mega Mewtwo Y. We will use shapes and guidelines to sketch Mega Mewtwo Y, adding more detail with each step. Then, if class time permits, we will color our creations. Come prepared to share your work! I will teach a "draw-along" so students can draw with me step by step, with commentary on each step. If students are more experienced, they can follow the video in the corner to move ahead. This class is intended for socialization and creativity. I enjoy teaching by doing the activity alongside the students. Students are welcome to modify their creations!
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice using shapes and guidelines to create more complex drawings. Students will also practice interacting with each other and will learn how to give positive feedback to support the work of their classmates.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Querida Simpson and I am looking forward to teaching your child. I have many areas of knowledge and skill that I wish to impart to the students of Outschool. My classes will include, but may not be limited to drawing classes, reading comprehension, science, animal care, and potentially some music theory classes.

Please see below for my teaching experience:

2007-2010 Swim Lesson Instructor
2008 Camp Counselor
2009 Camp Counselor
2008-2013 Student at Eastern Washington University Bachelors in Elementary Education, Middle Level Science, Music Minor
2009-2011 Lifeguard and Swim Instructor
2015-2017 Substitute Teacher in Cheney School District
2015-2017 Middle School Girls Youth Leader at Cheney Faith Center
2016-2017 S.T.E.A.M Instructor for Trailblazers after school program at Betz Elementary
2017-2020 ESL Teacher for VIPKID
2019-2020 Realtor

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science with K-8 Elementary Education Certificate out of Eastern Washington University (2013). I also have a minor in music, and have practical and management experience in first response and life guarding. I am a small business owner with a Real Estate License in the state of Alabama, where I currently live. As you can see, I pride myself in being "well-rounded" with a variety of skills.

As a teacher, my favorite way to learn is through play and through "doing". My classes will be hands on and will require students to draw connections from the material to their own experiences. If the students are laughing with the teacher, they are engaged. The goal is to foster a love of learning, no matter what the subject. It's never too late to try something new!

Something you should know about me is that I live on a small hobby farm with nine chickens, five rabbits (currently), two cats, and a dog. My students would say I'm the leader of a zoo, and they might be right! I have a love of animals, a love for kids, and nothing brings me more joy then to see a student's eyes light up when a concept is understood, or when they take pride in their work.

Thank you so much for your consideration; I'll see you in the classroom!
