Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding! It is a great way for young learners to practice following directions, develop fine motor skills, and grow in their confidence and creativity. This one time class will be a fun way for students to combine a love of Pokémon and art! These crafts will be at a beginner level, so no prior experience is necessary. Class Format: We will start by introducing ourselves to each other and sharing our favorite Pokémon. Then I will share the 2 mystery Pokémon that we will be folding today. I will guide learners through the folds step-by-step using a second camera set up so that they can see both my hands and my face. The small class size allows me to personalize my instruction and give learners individual support if needed. At the end of class, learners are encouraged to decorate their creations and share them with us if they wish!

Supply List
Please set learners up with... - solid colored origami paper (suggested colors: several sheets of yellow and orange) - pencil, eraser - coloring tools (ex. markers, colored pencils) - gluestick or tape NOTE: Origami paper can be purchased at most craft stores or online at Amazon. I suggest getting a bulk pack of double-sided 6x6 in. colored origami paper so learners can use colors that best match the Pokémon we make. White origami paper is also great, as learners can always add color after folding! If you do not have origami paper, white printer paper cut into a square will work as well. However, construction paper or other paper that is thicker/denser will not work.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Due to some schedule changes in my personal life, I will no longer be able to offer any classes until further notice. Please "follow" my profile so you can be notified when my new schedule is updated. Thank you :)
Hello! My name is Ms. Wang and I love engaging students in fun, creative activities to further their love of learning. On Outschool, I primarily offer a variety of origami classes. Feel free to message me if you want me to teach for a private 1:1 class, a private group class, or even a birthday party!
I have my Bachelor and Master of Arts in Elementary Teaching as well as my Massachusetts initial elementary teaching license (Grades 1-6). After I graduated from university, I taught Kindergarten and First Grade for 2 years! This past year, I returned to graduate school to get my ESL license. Though my classroom teaching experience has primarily been in the K-2 grades, I have many years of experience working with students of all ages in a variety of settings. This includes working in a preschool, teaching at a middle school debate camp, teaching Writing and Arts & Crafts at summer camps, etc.
I believe every child has their own learning style and a unique set of knowledge, interests, and abilities, which should be used to support their learning. I love finding creative ways to make learning fun and personal to each child so they are fully engaged in the learning process. I prioritize creating a safe environment for students where they can feel comfortable making mistakes and taking risks.
I am a huge Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney nerd, and I love incorporating various pop culture themes into my lessons to align with student interests. When I am not teaching, I love to curl up with a good book to continue my own journey as a lifelong learner!
