Let's have a kid style New Year's Ever Party!! In this one time class we'll start by playing a Kahoot! game with questions like "Where does the ball drop (In the U.S.)?" or "When was the first New Year's Eve celebrated?". Don't worry if you don't know the answers to the questions because the Kahoot! format is an exciting way to learn new trivia too. Then we'll play a Would You Rather game with questions like "Would you rather have confetti for hair or ... A party blowout for a nose?" or "Would you rather give up Netflix for 1 year or ....SnapChat for 1 year?". All questions will be silly in nature, which should keep participants engaged and hopefully laughing. Although, if they aren't laughing yet, I sure hope they will be when we tell our favorite New Year's jokes. Participants will have the opportunity to share jokes if they wish, or they can just listen to other....or as a last resort, if the group is quiet, I have a stock pile of plenty of jokes! If your kids are like mine, they may want to grab a notebook and paper to write some of these jokes down so they can use them too. Kahoot! works best if participants use 2 devices. I've found that most students log on to Zoom with their computers and use a tablet or phone to access Kahoot!. Kahoot! can be accessed through their app or by going to Kahoot.it and entering the private game pin. Want to schedule a private session for a group of friends, family or group? Just send me a message through Outschool and we can work out a date/time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn several fun facts about New Year's.
Students will engage in conversation with their peers.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.
In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
