Class Experience

Some people say future AI will be good and some say it will be bad. Maybe you have seen movies with good and bad robots? In this course we will have fun exploring what "good" and "bad" AI means.

In the first week we will focus on looking at simple, everyday problems machines might be involved in. Students will learn to look at the action of machines from multiple perspective to understand what the effect of an action is to other people.

Homework between the two classes will be watching a movie that includes an AI (parental approval of a movie selection is required).

In the second week we will discuss the actions of the movie AI and what we could do different to make an AI better for people.

*** Thinking Machines Courses ***
This course is a part of a suite of classes around the concept of thinking machines. The purpose of these courses is to prepare students for technological change driven by true thinking machines. The classes range from discussing ethics and moral to programming classes all with the same goal of opening a new world of opportunities for the students and to get them curious about the world of tomorrow.
Learning Goals
