Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner - Advanced Level
This class meets twice a week to help students with time management, goal setting, and academic learning. Students learn and share organization and study strategies. We also focus on fostering a growth mindset.

On Sunday evenings or Monday mornings we set goals for the week and organize academic and personal goals. Students will anticipate struggle points and brainstorm strategies to succeed with their goals.

We cover a new organizational or learning strategy each week. Examples include but are not limited to using pomodoro timers, goal setting, note taking, study hacks, and brain based learning.

Students complete a goal worksheet and a weekly schedule. Various ways of setting goals and managing time will be modeled by Ms. Howard and students pick what works best for them.

We meet on Wednesday evening to check in on progress. What's working? What's not working? What can we do? Students will share their goals and strategies they've used, as well as encourage and support each other.

On Friday or Saturday, on their own, students complete a form to reflect on their successes and needs.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how set goals, organize their tasks, and address learning obstacles.
