Come on a movement adventure with Miss Cassidy! This highly interactive class combines storytelling and physical activity to keep even the most energetic Learner engaged. Each week we explore a different classic story using the principles of yoga, dance, and creative movement as we tell the story. We will start class with a quick check-in, then we'll learn about the story's author, history, and context before diving into our story. After we finish our story, we'll discuss our favorite parts of the story, our favorite movements, and what we learned. Learners will have several opportunities to contribute and ask questions throughout the class. Week of January 24 - Aesops Fables Week of January 31 - Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter Week of February 7 - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll Week of February 14 - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum Week of February 21 - The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde Week of February 28 - Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen Week of March 7 - Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie Week of March 14 - The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame Week of March 21 - The Light Princess by George McDonald Week of March 28 - My Father's Dragon, by Ruth Stiles Gannett The only requirements for this class are a small, clear space for movement (aim for 4ftx4ft square), clothes you can move in, socks (bare feet or dance shoes also acceptable), a water bottle, and because of the physical nature of the class learners will be required to keep their cameras on throughout the class and an adult-supervisor is recommended. Please be advised that for your Learner's safety, it is of the utmost importance parents be aware of any potential hazards and ensure that their Learner has an open space, water, and adequate supervision to prevent injuries. This is a physical class, and we will be stretching and warming up safely, but please make sure your Learner is equipped with all the tools they need to succeed! This class is inclusive, which means Learners of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome. Together we work to build an inclusive environment that encourages, supports and celebrates our diverse voices. We share and respect pronouns, we support each other's Learning differences, and we create a safe space for all Learners. If your Learner needs any accommodations, please let me know, and we will work together to ensure that they have the best possible class experience.

While all of our stories are adapted to be shared in an age-appropriate way, these classic stories contain thematic elements including fear, abandonment, and death. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out before class.
A note on diversity: For copyright reasons, all of our stories come from the US Public Domain. Diversity in publishing continues to be a problem and was even worse a century ago. Currently, our list of authors is not as diverse as I would like, but I am actively working to find more diverse storytellers to contribute to our curriculum. If you have any suggestions, I would be more than happy to hear them!
