The Greek and Norse Pantheons seek to claim dominion over the multiverse and reshape it in their image. The divines of many cultures stood against them and all but a few remain. These last members of the divine resistance turn to the only ones who may be able to help; the humans of Earth. As a human with latent mystical or meta powers, it's up to you to accept the gifts of these last few Divines and turn back the tides of chaos. Dawn your sailor outfit. prepare your best Batman voice, unleash your flames of love upon the foul gods, and save the world! Oh and all of that is just before the big dance on Friday with that really cute girl from science class. Glitter Hearts is a cooperative storytelling game that relies on the narrative of the game first, with the moves that are used decided upon based on that narration. The game is a conversation where you are telling the story of the characters and creating the fiction of the game. While dice rolls are still an important part of the game, they are used to shape the story and resolve actions that have a chance of failing. Dice rolls are reserved for more dramatic situations and are rarely used in mundane interactions. Students can create characters in any way they want - they can be themselves, completely different, or a mix of both. Play as female, male, non-binary; straight, gay, lesbian, asexual, bisexual, or anything in between. They also will gain a mythical creature companion, so get ready for the animal buddy of your dreams. Glitter Hearts explores the world of super-heroics through the lens of ordinary people who gain extraordinary power by transforming from their everyday selves into super-beings with access to fantastic powers. Think Sailor Moon, the Power Rangers, Cute High Earth Defense Club, and Glitter Force as examples. How would you react to these situations? Become the queer hero of your dreams! Many of our adventures will have a mythical theme (as it is my specialty), like students have been pulled into their history books and face dragons. Classes will vote on a mythical or fantasy book series that their adventures will be based on. This is a "Powered by the Apocolypse" type-game, created by Greg Leatherman. Not DND / D&D. My teaching style is based on creating stories that get students and their characters involved with the world. The overall theme of the class will be structured so students know the basics of what we are doing, but most of it will be improv and how the world has changed. Each week, I will go over a quick summary of the past week, head into our adventure, and maybe end on a cliffhanger to begin again the week after. Students who have a basic knowledge of superheroes/magical girls and mythology may feel more comfortable, but it is not required, as I will narrate anything students need to know. A recording of the class will automatically post after each session, so learners can go back and rewatch classes or watch a class they missed. I also utilize captions in my class as much as possible, so that students can read what I am saying if they have a hard time hearing, miss something, or their computer sound is messing up. If there is anything I can do in terms of adjustment or accessibility to improve your students' experience in class (ex. no flashing lights, etc.), please do not hesitate to let me know!
Learning Goals
When playing Glitter Hearts, your agenda is to:
- Make the world dangerous, but also bright and fun.
- Fill the characters’ lives with action, friendships, and complications.
- Endanger the world and the characters with threats from beyond.
- Play to find out what happens.

Parental Guidance
Although the world of Glitter Hearts is based on a fun, fantasy world, we may face discussions and discovery of sexuality, gender, and coming-of-age; students will also face fantasy battles and violence.
Homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry are not what our story focuses on, but they may arise as the story develops and students want to discuss them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in History from George Mason University
I am a historian, scientist, and member of the LGBTQIA+/queer community (asexual, panromantic; she/her/hers). I teach mythology, science, and pop culture classes here on Outschool.
I graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Forensic Science and a focus on mythology and research. But I have been a teacher for over 8 years, working with students from toddlerhood to teenage and beyond. I have always encouraged students to learn based on their own learning styles, so my classes incorporate different varieties of learning, including interactive elements.
I am expanding more into RPG classes as I have enjoyed the ones I have done in the past through my other classes. I love creating worlds and characters for students to explore, and RPGs are a good way to do that, as well as incorporate mythology and science into them.
