Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this girl chat social time, we will chat, build new friendships, and encourage one another. Growing up can be hard, and having people in your circle to cheer you on is a real confidence booster. However, making those friends can feel a little intimidating. Learners will be guided in conversation through various questions and prompts and will be encouraged to ask questions of their own to bond with other students. Learners will leave each class with deeper friendships and more confidence in their social abilities, along with having had a lot of laughter and fun! I want each learner to leave class feeling seen, supported, and a little better than before the class started!

CLASS STRUCTURE:
During our class, we will spend time growing relationships with one another and growing in our confidence and social skills. We will start our class by sharing the best part of our past week (the high). I call this the highs/lows section of the class. This gives each child an outlet to talk about something right from the start of class that shows a little bit of their personality. I have found that this beginning section of the class can help break kids out of their shells, and ease them into the conversation for the rest of class. It also allows learners to develop social support skills while listening to their classmates share about their week.
Throughout our classes, learners will be asked to set two goals for their month. This is an awesome way for your learner to start developing the skill of setting goals and completing them, as their fellow learners, and I encourage them along the way. Goals can be big or small, and learners are encouraged to help each other think of a goal if anyone can't think up one for themself. Learners write their goals down on paper at the end of class and are then encouraged to place the paper somewhere in their room that they will see every day. This has very quickly become a favorite for all of my girls in this social club, and I am sure your learners will love it too.

Do note that the class content doesn't build, as this is an ongoing social group. New students are welcome at any time!

MY TEACHING STYLE:
My goal as a teacher is to make each student feel seen, loved, appreciated, and encouraged throughout our class time. I desire each student to leave class feeling better and brighter than when they logged in. I believe in positive encouragement, and helping my students find their confidence in who they are, along with making sure they have fun during our time together.
I graduated with a bachelor's in Psychology, specifically focused on adolescent Psychology. Bringing this information into my classrooms helps me to connect with the students, grow their social abilities, understand where they are within their formative years, and create a more inviting and safe environment for every student to learn.

I have a bubbly, bright, and fun personality, and I love to spend time connecting with kids to help them grow. It is one of my greatest joys to get to teach.
