In this social group we aim to enhance creativity, problem-solving, self-direction, collaboration, and other life skills while building towards a goal. Beginner to advanced students learn how to think critically about their work with the infinite possibilities of the game. I will be keeping this club as student-led as possible, it will not include teacher led builds. This social group uses Minecraft to help girls connect and communicate with each other as they create a fantastic world. Participants will build skills related to planning and follow-through, collaborative communication, compromise and self-advocacy—all while playing a game they love and celebrating a shared interest. Let's plan and create a world together! Some themes to get your creativity flowing: Week 1: Ideal Vacation spot - this can be anywhere you think would be ideal for your family. Week 2: A Theatre - Making your own Minecraft theatre can be as big or as little a project as you want. From the puppet show to the opera, theatre comes in all shapes and sizes. What type of theatre will you build? Week 3: A Tree House - Find a jungle biome. And build. It’s that easy. Get creative when it comes to stairways, passageways, and more. Soon enough your little treehouse will become a tree village. Week 4: A Famous Building - Try building your own version of any famous building or build your own! Your tower might not be well know but what unforgettable designs will you use to make your tower monument go down in history? Week 5: Maze - Mazes can easily be built out of leaves or hedges and placed into a garden. They can also be made underground or inside buildings. For more fun, consider adding traps and surprises using pistons like drops, changing walls, and dispensers shooting arrows. Don’t forget the reward chest at the end of the maze! In this on-going class, Minecraft builders will hang out, discuss Minecraft tips and tricks that they have learned, share their creations, and work together on weekly building projects if they choose to. This class is meant to be a fun and a relaxing time where students can joke, laugh, share their common Minecraft knowledge, and learn some new Minecraft tricks. There will be times where students will be free to do what they want in the game, whether that's to defeat the Enderdragon or to just search for villages. The point of this class is to create a social setting in a positive place. I wanted to create a class where students can connect with peers and enhance creativity, problem-solving, self-direction, collaboration, and other life skills. We will be using the Minecraft Bedrock Edition and you will need to have a way to play Minecraft as well as use the Zoom program. Each class will be different and independent so you are able to join one class or come as often as you like. Please Do Not Break anything you didn't build.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to respectably wait and share in turn
Students will learn new tricks and tips from other learners as we are sharing ideas during the class
Students will meet others with similar interests and gain confidence sharing their own creations!
