In this class we will travel around the globe virtually visiting South America, Africa, Indonesia and Australia. At each stop we will discover one of nature's giant creatures including the worlds's biggest snake and spider. We will find out about their natural habitat, diet and some other amazing facts about them. We will also meet one of their smaller real live animal cousins. On one of our stops we will visit Indonesia to find out about the massive Komodo Dragon and meet Indie the real live Irian Jaya Blue Tongued Skink. On our virtual journey we will meet a mammal, two reptiles, an insect and a spider. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and share their animal knowledge during the class. This lesson has been tried and tested in primary schools and libraries in the UK and has always been well received.
Learning Goals
Students will discover where on a map of the world 5 of the world's biggest creatures live and the type of habitat they are adapted to. They will also find out where in the world 5 of their smaller cousins, commonly kept as pets originate from. They will learn to identify a mammal, a reptile, an insect and and arachnid, as well as carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
During the class we will be using some of the Deadly 60 books from the BBC children's natural history series. There is no need for students to have seen the TV series or read the books to enjoy and access the class. They are great books and programmes for young animal lovers though.
