US Grade 6 - 8
In this 4 day vocabulary camp, we will explore common Greek and Latin root words, practice their meanings with fun activities, and learn how to apply this knowledge to deciphering unknown words. #academic Each class, we will focus on 1-2 specific root words. Students will be provided instruction on the root word(s), will create a word family using related words, and will have an opportunity to practice using each root's meaning in multiple ways (handouts, verbal discussion, chat discussion, annotation, games, drawing, etc.). As the teacher, I will provide direct instruction with immediate feedback and encouragement as we practice. I strive to engage each child at their level and keep them active and involved throughout the session. NOTE: Camps can be taken in any order or as a stand-alone class! Each camp will offer 4 NEW Greek/Latin root words to study. Root words covered are different in each camp. Day 1: Bio Day 2: Mega Day 3: Onym Day 4: Sci
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of Greek and Latin root words [Bio, Mega, Onym, Sci] and will be able to apply this information to deciphering unknown words.
