Getting on Track: Using a Planner to Enhance Executive Functioning Skills

In this class, students will be given a customizable planner to help them learn how to manage and prioritize their time to get stuff done! This is self-paced course comprised of two lessons for one week. Students will have the opportunity to follow along in the planner provided in course materials or use their own planner, I'll discuss using both! Week 1Lesson 1The Big Brain DumpIn this lesson, we'll discuss the "brain dump" strategy. We'll discuss sifting through our homework, extracurriculars, and personal life to ensure we are taking into account all of our regular commitments.Lesson 2Getting it done to stay on track!In this lesson, we'll take our "big brain dump" and use a prioritizing tool in our planners to itemize what we'll need to accomplish each day to stay on track. We'll discuss levels of importance, taking breaks to stay focused, and scheduling white space.

This class would be a great resource for learners with learning challenges such as ADHD or Autism, who struggle with executive functioning skills such as time management, prioritization, and task initiation.
Students will need a planner to follow along with the video lessons. They can use one provided from their school, a store bought one, or a printed copy of the one provided in this course.
