Get Your Sketch on: Sketching for Newbies

Learners will begin and learn to maintain a sketchbook practice which includes shape, line, value and composition using simple still life subjects. The class will be cancelled unless 3 per more students are enrolled. Students who are enrolled but outside the age limit will be withdrawn. Please message with requests for classes for other ages.
This class will focus on guiding learners to discover their own artistic style and offering many techniques to achieve the desired result rather than the usual "draw-what-I-draw" directed method.
Learners will be encouraged to learn to see in the way an artist must see in order to produce recognizable images and yet render them in their own unique style.
A still life object will be set up and lit for drawing for each meeting. Students will be guided to notice general shapes as well as details, values and composition, and proper pencil techniques.
