45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
The first 5 minutes of class the student will create a quick drawing 'ice breaker' - this exercise is useful for warming up the hand to draw and the senses to encourage flow in the student's creative process. We will then have a 10 minute story time with a children's book/video about Claude Monet. After the story, the student will receive the instructions of how to create the Claude Monet inspired sailboats. We will make sure all of the materials are accessible for the student before we begin. I will talk about the proper use of acrylic paint. The student will create painting inspired by likeness of a Claude Monet painting. I will create the same drawing as I am giving the instructions step by step and offer guidance as the student is creating his/her work. I do NOT critique. My goal is to instill confidence in the student of his/her creative potential.
Learning Goals
Student will have an understanding of Monet's contribution to the Art world and an awareness of best practices with acrylic paint.
