Description
Class Experience
Want to practice your math skills or maybe get ahead of the game for next school year? This 4 week class will cover the most important topics from 5th grade math to prepare you for next year's math skills! As a 5th and 6th grade math teacher, I have developed strategies for learners to keep refining their math skills. Students will engage in mini lessons, small group discussions, math challenges, and review games throughout our class to make math FUN! This class is recommended for students...
1. Students will be able to determine and compare the place values of digits in a number with decimal place values. 2. Students will be able to explain how a number changes when multiplying or dividing by a power of 10. 3. Students will be able to divide a multi-digit number by a two digit number. 4. Students will be able to add and subtract numbers with decimal place values. 5. Students will be able to multiply numbers with decimal place values. 6. Students will be able to divide numbers with decimal place values. 7. Students will be able to add and subtract fractions. 8. Students will be able to multiply fractions. 9. Students will be able to divide fractions. 10. Students will be able to plot points on a coordinate plane. 11. Students will be able to determine the area of a shape. 12. Students will be able to determine the volume of a rectangular prism.
Students will have a few practice problems for homework after each lesson. This homework should take no more than 10 minutes.
Students will need to have a paper and pencil in order to work out problems for each class. The remaining materials will be provided for them via the classroom.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
