Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 10
Whether a student has finished writing their novel or finished illustrating their own coloring book, it can be hard for them to know what to do next. In this class, students will focus on preparing their finished product for publication. We will NOT be writing or working on content in this particular class. We'll only focus on publishing. Students will learn what is acceptable for publication on Kindle Direct Publishing, how to avoid getting into trouble for copyright, and other important topics.

If students plan on publishing their stories, they will also need to be able to access Microsoft Word and Kindle Direct Publishing. Students will have the ability to meet and chat in the classroom outside of normal class times if they need help on their stories at no extra cost.

Class 1: Creating the cover
Discuss services that help with making covers
Tips for designing your own cover
Copyright and other issues with your cover
How to use Canva to make a cover
HOMEWORK: Think about possible cover designs and ideas. (Teacher will help students design the cover if needed.)

Class 2: Kindle Direct Publishing
