Join me for this fun and engaging 5-day winter camp where upper-beginner crocheters ages 8-12 will make 4 granny square patterns. On the last day, we will join our squares together. Includes written patterns and crochet project ideas.

2-4 hours per week. Learners will be expected to complete making at least two of each granny square pattern learned in this class (days 1-4). On Friday (day 5), learners will use these squares to practice their joining techniques.Assessment
I will be watching the learners throughout the camp. I will offer assistance, positive encouragement, and helpful feedback as they work on their granny squares. If they have particular questions about their projects outside of class time, they can send me a message.Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
Does your upper-beginner level crocheter want to expand their crochet skills and explore the exciting world of granny squares this winter? Join me for this fun and engaging 5-day winter camp where learners ages 8-12 will learn to make 4 different granny square patterns. We will learn about crochet pattern abbreviations, how to change colours in a granny square, the treble crochet stitch, and the standing double crochet stitch. In the final class meeting, we will learn how to join our squares together, and ideas for things you can make with granny squares. This camp is intended for upper-beginner level learners. Learners should already know the chain, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitches before enrolling in this course. I have been crocheting for over 30 years! My mother taught me how to crochet when I was 8 years old, and I've never stopped. Crocheting is a wonderful way to release stress and anxiety, while being creative at the same time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLASS BREAKDOWN: Each class will follow this format: 1. Introductions, get to know you activity (day 1 only, 5 minutes) 2. Show and tell for learners wanting to share their projects from the previous week (days 2-5, 5 minutes) 3. Lesson on this day's granny square pattern (rest of class time) Please see the syllabus for a description of the granny squares we will be making each day. over 1 WeekLesson 1:
Basic Granny Square
In this lesson we will introduce ourselves, and learn the basic granny square pattern. We will use 4 colours of yarn for this square. I will teach the standing double crochet stitch. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Solid Granny Square
On day 2, we are going to make the solid granny square. Learners will need one colour of yarn for this pattern. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Filet Granny Square
On Day 3, we will make a filet granny square. I will be using four colours of yarn for this pattern. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Circle in a Square Granny Square
Granny squares come in all shapes and sizes! This week we are learning to make a circle granny square, then turning it into a square. We will use four colours of yarn for this pattern. We will use the treble crochet stitch in this pattern, and I will demonstrate this stitch if learners aren't familiar with it. 45 mins online live lesson

Parental Guidance
Learners will use scissors and a sewing needle in this camp.
Pre-Requisites
Learners are expected to already know the chain, double crochet, and slip stitches before enrolling in this camp. I will demonstrate these stitches while we make our granny squares, but I will not be doing a full lesson about them.
