▬▬▬▬▬▬ ⭐Course Overview⭐ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ This course focuses on developing German language proficiency at the "Effective Readers" level through the Reading A-Z program. Students will read a new story each week from Levels K-P and engage in various activities to improve their reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary. Topics covered will include family, home, school, park, zoo, friends, pets, and more. Throughout the course, students will interact with their peers and the instructor through various activities such as discussions, writing exercises, and completing activities on slides. The instructor will use engaging teaching methods to make the learning experience enjoyable and relevant to students' daily lives. Overall, this course is designed to help students develop their German language skills, improve their reading comprehension and writing, and make connections between what they read and their daily lives. Students are welcome to join and leave at any time, as there is no previous information needed in order to succeed in the current week’s lesson. If you’d like to know exactly what week we are in (and that week’s topic), please send us a message to inquire. 📅 Are you looking for a class that meets 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x per week? Send us a message about a class frequency change. 💬 We can also accommodate learners and families wanting full immersion vs. bilingual classes. Send us a message to learn more! ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 📚Literature Read📚 ▬▬▬▬▬▬ In this class, we will read the following stories: "I'd Like to Be", "Friends Around the World", "I Love City Parks", and "Brainstorm Bear". ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 💬Language of Instruction💬▬▬▬▬▬▬ This is an immersion class, which means lessons will be taught primarily in German. However, teachers will use English as necessary to guide students. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👨🎓Target Student👨🎓 ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Students should have a basic understanding of German letters, sounds and sentence structure. The course is designed for non-native German speakers but all learners are welcome to join. The Reading A-Z program expects effective readers to recognize more and more words automatically by sight, attend to phonics, word chunks, and affixes when decoding unfamiliar words, and transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." Effective readers also tend to focus less on decoding and more on comprehension. The text to support effective readers may include longer sentences, more complex syntax, richer vocabulary, fewer pictures, and more formal and descriptive language.
