Guten Tag! In this one-on-one session, you and your family will have the chance to meet with me to discuss your background, learning goals, and ideal pathway to German fluency.

If you’re not quite sure which of my classes is the right one for you, this Open House session will help you decide.

We can spend the 25 minutes of the session in whichever way you like. We can…
+ discuss various class options
+ check your placement in the curriculum, based on any prior knowledge you have of German
+ look through the textbook together (for German 1, German 2, and German 3)
+ look at some instructor-created teaching materials together
+ do a quick sample activity
+ discuss any special needs or concerns
+ answer any questions

I’d love to hear a little bit about you as a learner. Where does your interest in German come from? What learning methods do you think work best for you? What are your learning goals?

I’d also love to share my qualifications as an instructor. I have a PhD in German literature from the University of Wisconsin—Madison, I have over 25 years of experience teaching German in a variety of settings, I was a German professor for 18 years, and I have won several teaching awards. I am a big fan of everything having to do with language and culture, and I would be honored to be your German teacher!

* starts at a true beginner's level
* many possible entry points, so if you already have some German knowledge, you can join whenever makes the most sense
