Class Experience

THIS COURSE IS FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE AT AN INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 

In this course we will be focusing on strengthening our German foundational language skills. We will be reviewing Grammar rules, practicing grammar, discussing chapters from the book, answering comprehension questions and working on our writing skills.
Everyone will be interacting with the teacher and the other students via Zoom meeting. We will be using the “Grammatik aktiv” workbook  by Cornelsen and the chapter book "Charlie und die Schokoladen Fabrik" by Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) .
This course includes a lot of interaction, practice and fun. Homework is a necessary part of learning a language! I will be sending homework home weekly. 

The schedule will be following:

Week 1: modal verbs : conjugation and position in a sentence, discussing chapter 1 "Auftritt Charlie" (Charlie's appearance) and chapter 2 "Willy Wonkas Schokoladenfabrik" (Willy Wonka's chocolate factory) 
Week 2: imperative , discussing chapter 3 "Mister Wonka und der indische Prinz" (Mr. Wonka and the Indian prince) and chapter 4 "Die unsichtbaren Arbeiter" (the invisible worker)
Week 3: questions with interrogative, discussing chapter 5 "Die goldenen Tickets" (the golden tickets) and chapter 6 "Die ersten zwei Gewinner" (the first two winners)
Week 4: personal pronouns: accusative & dative, discussing chapter 7 "Charlies Geburtstag" (Charlie's birthday) and chapter 8 "Die nächsten zwei goldenen Tickets werden gefunden" (the next two tickets have been found) 
Week 5: use of tenses, discussing chapter 9 "Grandpa Joe setzt alles auf eine Münze" (grandpa Joe bets everything on a coin) and chapter 10 "Die Familie ist am verhungern" (the family is starving)
Week 6: temporal prepositions , discussing chapter 11 "Ein Wunder geschieht" (a miracle happens)
and chapter 12 "Was auf dem goldenen Ticket steht" (what's on the golden ticket)
Week 7: two-way prepositions in dative case, discussing chapter 13 "Der grosse Tag ist da" (The big day has arrived)
and chapter 14 "Mister Willy Wonka" (Mr. Willy Wonka) 
Week 8: local prepositions , discussing chapter 15 "Im Schokoladenraum" (in the chocolate room) and chapter 16 "Die Umpa-Lumpas" ( the Umps-Lumpas)
Week 9: comparative degree and comparison, discussing chapter 17 "Augustus Gier steckt fest" (Augustus Gier is stuck) and chapter 18 "Den Schokoladenfluss hinunter" (down the chocolate river)
Week 10: superlative, discussing chapter 19 "Der Raum der Erfindungen: Dauerhafte Dauerlutscher und Haarhonig" (the room of inventions: permanent lollipops and hair honey) and chapter 20 "Die große Kaugummimaschine" (the big bubble gum machine)
Week 11: nominative, accusative and dative case, discussing chapter 21 "Auf Wiedersehen, Violet" (goodbye, Violet) and chapter 22 "Den Flur entlang" (down the hallway)
Week 12: Präteritum, discussing chapter 23 "Zucker, der zwinkert" (sugar that winks) and chapter 24 "Verucka wird beklopft" (Verucka is tested) 
Week 13: Plusquamperfekt, discussing chapter 25 "Der grosse gläserne Fahrstuhl" (the big glass elevator)
and chapter 26 "Schokoladenfernsehen" (chocolate TV)
Week 14: reflexive pronouns in dative case, discussing chapter 27 "Mike Glotzer wird durch die Glotze gejagt" (Mike Glotzer is chased through the TV) and chapter 28 "Nur Charlie ist nicht übrig" ( only Charlie is left)
Week 15: assumption and future with Futur 1 , discussing chapter 29 "Vier Kinder gehen nach Hause" (four children go home) and chapter 30 "Charlies Schokoladenfabrik" ( Charlie's chocolate factory)
Week 16: summary & discussion of the book

Note: For the class to take place it needs at least 4 students.
All students need to have their camera on during class.
