In my classes, students get high-quality language instruction and enjoy time together in a lively classroom environment. These are academic classes that span the full school year and can be used for high school credit. Learning Goals
Students will get a brief introduction to the German 1 for High Schoolers full-curriculum class. They will meet the instructor, have a quick look at the textbook, and become familiar with some of the learning methods used in the class. They will learn some vocabulary, practice pronunciation, and gain confidence in their language-learning abilities.

This class works well for students with unique learning needs. I use a variety of teaching modalities: written, spoken, & visual. I am patient, understanding, & offer warm encouragement. And we can be flexible! Just let me know.
Pre-Requisites
No German experience necessary. This class is perfect for students who are considering taking the full German 1 for High Schoolers class, whether they are true beginners or have had some practice with the German language already.

I have been teaching German, composition, and arts & humanities for more than 25 years, and I speak German with near-native fluency. I have a PhD in German Literature and was the 2014 Indiana German Collegiate Teacher of the Year. I was a professor of German for 16 years and have homeschooled my own son. I bring first-rate content knowledge and pedagogical expertise to the online classroom, plus a genuine love of working with young learners.
Because I have extensive experience at the college level, I know just where high school students are headed and can expertly guide them as they prepare themselves for the next step. My focus on learning strategies and study skills is an added benefit, useful for any learner.
