Class Experience

Coordinate geometry is one of the most important and exciting ideas of mathematics. Any location on earth can be located by a point with two coordinate values on a two-dimensional grid. GPS systems use coordinates to find our position and the position of our destination. A two-dimensional grid representing a room with two coordinate values can help determine where to place a piece of furniture in a room.

In this fun and exciting class, a student's knowledge of plotting and graphing points on a coordinate plane will increase. Basic plotting and graphing points on a coordinate plane are needed before taking this class. I offer a class, Geometry Made Fun: "Points on a Coordinate Plane," that teaches the basic skills needed to take this class.

The entire fifty-five minutes of class time will be spent plotting and connecting points to create a picture(s). These picture(s) will be created on the coordinate plane. Students will be able to create one or more pictures ranging from easy to difficult.

I am a retired attorney as well as a former high school geometry teacher.
