Coordinate geometry is one of the most important and exciting ideas of mathematics. Any location on earth can be located by a point with two coordinate values on a two-dimensional grid. GPS systems use coordinates to find our position and the position of our destination. A two-dimensional grid representing a room with two coordinate values can help determine where to place a piece of furniture in a room. In this fun and exciting class, a student's knowledge of plotting and graphing points on a coordinate plane will increase. Basic plotting and graphing points on a coordinate plane are needed before taking this class. I offer a class, Geometry Made Fun: "Points on a Coordinate Plane," that teaches the basic skills needed to take this class. The entire fifty-five minutes of class time will be spent plotting and connecting points to create a picture(s). These picture(s) will be created on the coordinate plane. Students will be able to create one or more pictures ranging from easy to difficult. I am a retired attorney as well as a former high school geometry teacher.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of ordered pairs, plotting coordinates, and graphing on a coordinate plane.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a passion for teaching and tutoring children. I want my students to have an enjoyable learning experience. I love to read nonfiction books on other cultures, historical events, and characters. Also, math has always been a dear friend. In college, I took and did well in college algebra, finite math, calculus, probability, and statistics.
I am a retired Attorney. I practiced law for over 20 years. Also, I am a former high school geometry teacher. After retirement, for the past 5 years, I have been substitute teaching in both Missouri and Kansas. I have had many job duties but to cap a few: I have taught/tutored special education students (Down Syndrown, ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc.) with IEP's in all their core subjects. I have taught and tutored over 120 high school students in geometry.
I hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in Business Administration/Marketing and a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of Maryland, Substitute Certificates from both Missouri and Kansas and I am a member of ACTP (Association for the Coaching and Tutoring Professional.
I love children and animals. I love to cook, dine out and travel. I have three adult children, four almost five grandchildren, two dogs Weasel (Yorkie) and Benji (Schnese).
