What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one hour class your child will be given an introduction to geometry in nature. We will begin by introducing the four dimensions of space: time, solids, flat surfaces and lines. From there we will explore symmetry and fractals, view them in nature and then search for them out our own windows. To solidify the concepts of symmetry and fractals we will work on a handout covering the different types of symmetry and play around on The Fractal Foundation website devoted entirely to fractals! Students will also explore Sacred Geometry concepts such as the Flower of Life, which is created by adding multiple, evenly spaced and overlapping circles and Fibonacci Sequence, which are a series of numbers where the next number is found by adding the two numbers before it. To solidify the concepts of the Flower of Life and Fibonacci Sequence we will watch videos, create our own Flower of Life interpretation and Fibonacci Spirals!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I was a teacher in a traditional school for 11 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother to my daughter. I have been promoting outdoor play through education in one form or another for over seven years now. I have a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Master of Arts in teaching.
My family and I spend many quality hours outside. We enjoy everything from simply sitting on the front porch to kayaking on the nearby river. I truly believe children learn best through play and though stimulation of their senses through interaction with the world around them. It is this passion for learning through doing that I bring to my nature-based courses!
