1-2 hours per week. Projects will be based on investigation, gathering data and presenting that data. For example, students may be asked to investigate an earthquake that happened, find out what happened and present that information in a way the best suits them, whether by drawing a diagram, creating a slide show presentation, create a brainstorm, storyboard, online art etc.Progress Report
This course has four main components, 1. The Earths Layers, 2. Plate tectonics, 3. Volcanoes, 4. Earthquakes. Students will be given a project to complete after each component is covered. Their work will be corrected and feedback will be given after each project. We will also complete a quiz at the end of the course and I will carry out a Q&A session with them. Therefore there will be a combination of formal and informal assessment in this course.Class Experience
Beginner - Advanced Level
We will be learning about the physical world of Geography in part 1 of the course. Part 1 focuses on Earth, learning about its internal structure, the dynamic processes that shape our planet, and the natural phenomena that affect human life. This course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of geography by covering key concepts related to Earth's composition, plate tectonics, volcanoes, and earthquakes.
Learning Goals
The Earth's Layers: Core, Mantle, and Crust.
How these layers influence surface features and events.
Plate Tectonics: The movement of Earth’s plates.
How this movement causes earthquakes, volcanic activity, and the formation of mountains.

Learning Needs
This class uses images, diagrams, maps and video content to present the information so that it is accessible to all learners. I will focus on using technology to carry out research and creative design to make projects so it is all text.
Parental Guidance
We will be covering some natural disasters and how they impacted humans, therefore some of the content will show the damage of property and the loss of lives due to Earthquakes and Volcanoes. I understand that some students may find this upsetting.
Video content will be used but mostly they will be animations of how certain processes, such as plate tectonics work.
Students will need access to the internet so that they can carry out research on the content we will be covering. Access to Google apps such as Google Slides, Maps, Canva.com, Storyboard, may be helpful but is not a necessity. Any of the projects can also be completed with a pencil and some paper if that suits the student best.
Pre-Requisites
Learners should come with an open mind and an eagerness to learn about the Restless Earth. No previous skills or classes are necessary we will do it all.
