Geography is one of my greatest passions! I can't wait to share with your child all the different people and places in our world. Each student will receive a "passport" when they join the class. As we travel to and learn about different countries, students can fill up their passports with "stamps." As we arrive to each new continent, students will be given a map of the continent and an additional handout with memorable features of the countries we visit. Day 1: Europe Day 2: Africa Day 3: North America Day 4: Central America Day 5: South America Location fun facts may include native animals, climate, capitals, waterways, cultures and landmarks. Students will learn through show me/tell me games, find it games, pictures, and occasional short videos. Students will be given a passport and maps for games during class. Maps and other handouts/coloring sheets should be printed off prior to class so they can be used during class. **Topics are subject to change depending on student(s) abilities and interests**

Students will need to print off (prior to class): -passports -maps -handouts/coloring sheets Students will also need "markers" for their maps. These can be: -dried beans -balls made from modeling clay -sequins -or whatever you have around the house **I also like to use chocolate chips (for mountain ranges) and candy fish or fish crackers (for waterways and oceans). All of these are completely optional, however it does make the games more fun for the kids. You may also want to consider laminating maps (or using a sheet protector) so your child can practice or play the games multiple times. An alterative option is to purchase shop ticket holders from the Dollar Tree to put the maps in. When choosing this option, students can use dry erase markers to identify/outline locations on the maps. These options allow students to use the maps multiple times.

I have been teaching for over 15 years in various areas of education. I believe learning should be fun. I enjoy teaching reading, writing, and the English language. I also enjoy teaching classes that keep us moving - my kids are very active! My class offerings will include phonics/reading, writing, the English language (ESL, ELL) history and geography, art, and science. My one-on-one class offerings will include tutoring options in reading, writing, math, research projects, and the English language.
I have a Master's degree from the University of Rochester and a teaching license from the state of New York. I spent several years teaching high school level history courses to students ages 15-18, tutoring various subjects to students of all ages, and coaching. I have been teaching ESL online for over 2 years and enjoy the on-line format. I also currently homeschool our two children.
I enjoy spending time with family and seeing the excitement of discovery on my kids' faces when they learn something new. We enjoy reading, hiking, and exploring new adventures together. I hope you will join me on the next fun adventure!Reviews
