Therefore, we offer our classes as composite courses that groups students of mixed abilities increasing growth of all students through methods of best practice. Our Classes combine to create LEAF Learners 🍃 CURRICULUM: These classes will target learning of reading, math, science, and social living through thematic units play based activities, and The Arts. Music, drama, dancing, the visual arts, and other artistic media, are woven into many lesson. Activities that deepen and round out one’s understanding of the world in which we live, stands side by side with traditional core academic subjects. PLANTS COURSES REVIEW MANY DOMAINS OF LEARNING. THEY ARE CAPTIVATING AND ENJOYABLE. STRUCTURE: A main lesson is taught in a block of time lasting for several weeks. Creative arts like drawing, painting, language studies, music and drama support the main lesson and give students a variety of avenues to learn the material. Students then continue an exploration of the lesson through movement and motor skills, with activities like physical education, building, dance and gardening. CONTENT: This model is a thematic approach to learning about plants. Students immerse in their learning and have time to adequately explore and understand the content. Students learning is more purposeful as they understand how their learning is used in everyday life. OTHER CLASSES: Classes are offered 1 time a week for 4 weeks. While we might stay on a specific theme for multiple weeks, new activities and objectives will accompany the courses throughout. Also be on the lookout for our LEAF Extra Full Curriculum Homeschool Course. These classes will supplement the entire curriculum perfectly. SIMPLY like our profile for updates. OUTLINE: Class 1: Planting & Harvesting Rituals, Life Cycle of Plants Class 2: Exploring Compost Class 3: Big Fat Worms Class 4: Garden Celebration & Storytelling NEEDED: Students will need basic art supplies such as crayons or markers, paper, watercolor paints, pencils, playdough or clay. For this course we will also need dirt, herb seed, It is suggested that students get a half inch binder for handouts, but this is simply at your own discretion. HANDOUTS: LEAF Learners offers handouts as extensions to lessons that are studied within the virtual classroom. These handouts will complement our study and increase growth of students through varied tasks that can be completed outside of our classroom. If you register for a complete semester, be sure to purchase a binder to keep these handouts, as they are great resources. LEAF Learners🍃 suggest courses to accompany Full Curriculum Homeschool Composite Class. These courses include Study Hall/ Homework Help, Sewing, and Consumer.
