Calling all gamers and personal finance enthusiasts to an exciting week of learning with games! Ever wonder about the secrets behind strategy games and how could they help you learn finance as a life skill? During Gamification Week participants will play games and enjoy activities that help build positive gaming habits. If you enjoy playing board games, computer games, design thinking, and finding solutions to problems – Gamification Week is for you. Along the way we will develop skills essential for managing money, assess risk, responsible credit and debt management and growing money with Saving and Investing. Students will play games and enjoy activities that help build positive financial habits. Come join us and learn how online computer games can teach personal finance and strategy as a lifelong skill. Day 1 - We will play Investing simulation game Day 2 - We will explore Budgeting and learn how to reach a Savings goal Day 3 - We will learn about Managing Credit and how to keep a good score Day 4 - We will put on our thinking hat and play a game that teaches us how to Manage Risk and avoid pitfalls Day 5 - During College and Career session, we will pretend play careers that can help support our expected lifestyles This class has been developed with a focus on strategical thinking and team building, which is a fabulous way of incorporating fun into learning. Let the games begin! Class setting: This class will use Nearpod (an award winning student engagement platform) as the teaching platform, and include practical discussions, activities, games, and educational video clips. The virtual setting provides students a fun way to keep learning through various activities designed especially for online delivery. Teaching methodology: We will use games and hands-on exercises to provide students opportunities to learn, make mistakes and learn again in a safe environment. Please note: To monitor and encourage student engagement, cameras must be on and students must be on the camera for the entire length of the class. Additionally, all learners must be enrolled as students; if two learners are sharing a device, both learners must be enrolled per Outschool policies.
